Following the same traditional construction methods used on all our other boots, the Mean Machine is a combination of the best specs yet is boosted with our new natural rubber compound sole.
This new sole, combined with the beauty of our crazy horse leather, brings you a boot that isn’t only easy on the eye but also super comfortable.
The Mean Machine brings a new meaning to durability, comfort, and quality.
- Manufactured with a double layer of leather (2.2mm Oily Nubuck leather, lined with 1.6mm calf leather).
- Double layer of leather aids in the boot’s water-resistant properties (not waterproof).
- Ankle padding for excellent support, comfort, and protection.
- Thermoplastic toe puff and a heel stiffener for extra support.
- A steel shank between the insole board and sole offers extra support and stability.
- Insole board is secured to the upper with a double-stitched 2.2mm braided nylon cord.
- Sole is made from genuine rubber.
- Can be resoled.
- Due to the double layer of leather, the Mean Machine can tackle all kinds of terrain, making it ideal for the outdoor worker or hiker requiring that extra bit of toughness.
- JG last – This last has a 3E wide fit and offers a snugger feel all around with a flatter toe box.
- Sole: JGN (This sole is our lug option and is designed for grip. It is genuine rubber and has a firm feel to provide stability underfoot).

I never write reviews, but this company and these boots deserve all the praise I can give. The boots ooze quality, and they look absolutely amazing. I highly recommend purchasing the leather balm along with the boots for initial conditioning and protection. They require about a week to break in, so be prepared for some blisters, but after that, it’s pure enjoyment for 10+ years.

I absolutely love my Mean Machines! The nubuck like crazy horse leather is beautiful. I’ve treated them with leather balm and dubbin and they have come out a gorgeous pecan colour with perfect patina. With the leather insoles and some good socks I can walk in these all day, give them a light buff when I’m done, and they look good as new. I’m a huge fan of Jim Green. My dad and brother now also have Jim Green boots and I’m all too happy to recommend this brand to anyone…even if they didn’t ask. I have another three pairs in my cart…will buy as soon as I am able!
