This boot may look pretty on the eye but do not let that fool you. From the high streets to the outdoors, The Mean Machine will not only fit in but also leave all competitors in the dust.

Following the same traditional construction methods used on all our other boots, the Mean Machine is a combination of the best specs yet is boosted with our new natural rubber compound sole.

This new sole, combined with the beauty of our crazy horse leather, brings you a boot that isn’t only easy on the eye but also super comfortable.

The Mean Machine brings a new meaning to durability, comfort, and quality.

Manufactured with a double layer of leather (2.2mm Oily Nubuck leather, lined with 1.6mm calf leather).
Double layer of leather aids in the boot’s water-resistant properties (not waterproof).
Ankle padding for excellent support, comfort, and protection.
Thermoplastic toe puff and a heel stiffener for extra support.
A steel shank between the insole board and sole offers extra support and stability.
Insole board is secured to the upper with a double-stitched 2.2mm braided nylon cord.
Sole is made from genuine rubber.
Can be resoled.
Due to the double layer of leather, the Mean Machine can tackle all kinds of terrain, making it ideal for the outdoor worker or hiker requiring that extra bit of toughness.
JG last – This last has a 3E wide fit and offers a snugger feel all around with a flatter toe box.
Sole: JGN (This sole is our lug option and is designed for grip. It is genuine rubber and has a firm feel to provide stability underfoot).

Jim Green Mean Machine | First Impressions

I’ve worn a lot of boots over the years. Doc Martens. European brands. Brazilian made boots. Nothing comes close to the Mean Machine. This is a completely different category of boot.

The construction hits you immediately. Full grain leather upper built using Jim Green’s signature double-stitch method, brass eyelets and a yellow leather lining. Every component feels overbuilt in the best possible way. Pick them up and you understand what you’re holding.

Fit is precise. I have wide feet from a barefoot childhood and the toebox accommodates my width without any squeeze. On downslopes the lacing system locks the heel in place properly. This is not a boot that needs to be sized up the way trail runners do. Size true.

I applied leather balm after day one and the leather darkened significantly. Worth knowing if you’re attached to the original fudge/tan colour. Still looks exceptional – just richer and deeper than out of the box.

Not broken in yet and already they command respect. Will update after the Camino Portugués in May.

Build quality: 10/10. Buy them.

I never write reviews, but this company and these boots deserve all the praise I can give. The boots ooze quality, and they look absolutely amazing. I highly recommend purchasing the leather balm along with the boots for initial conditioning and protection. They require about a week to break in, so be prepared for some blisters, but after that, it’s pure enjoyment for 10+ years.

I absolutely love my Mean Machines! The nubuck like crazy horse leather is beautiful. I’ve treated them with leather balm and dubbin and they have come out a gorgeous pecan colour with perfect patina. With the leather insoles and some good socks I can walk in these all day, give them a light buff when I’m done, and they look good as new. I’m a huge fan of Jim Green. My dad and brother now also have Jim Green boots and I’m all too happy to recommend this brand to anyone…even if they didn’t ask. I have another three pairs in my cart…will buy as soon as I am able! Keep up the amazing product. You have a new fan for life!
