- A steel shank between the insole board and sole offers extra support and stability.
- The traditional Vellie – South Africa’s most loved shoe.
- Thermoplastic toe puff and a heel stiffener for extra support.
- Insole board is secured to the upper with a double-stitched 2.2mm braided nylon cord.
- Sole is made from a genuine soft rubber compound offering extra comfort.
- This boot can be re-soled.
- STC last – This last has a 2E wide fit and offers a roomy and rounded toe box.

To be clear, I do not work for Jim Green and have no association with Jim Green and this is a true and honest review about their “Vellies” shoes. Most shoes out there are Made in China and I’m sorry but buying any product that carries the Made in China label weighs on my political/moral conscience. I would rather walk barefoot!
[...]Here is a shoe that is not only made in South Africa but is a damn good product too! They not only look good but are comfortable too and here’s the thing. The more they are worn in, the more comfortable they get. If you are reading this and deliberating whether to buy this product or any of their products I would say go for it with a big YES. You are not only buying a quality product but you are supporting a local industry.
To Jim Green Inc. Some sage advice. Patent and TM the name Vellies and Velskoene before that shoe box factory of the east copies your product and sells it 50% cheaper with questionable labour laws and disregard for intellectual property rights.

These bellies are very roomy in the toe and also very wide. When I buy again I’m going to buy a half size down from my regular adidas sneaker size. With that said, the ramblers might be the most comfortable shoe I’ve ever worn. They feel like slippers that I can wear outside. The build quality is outstanding, they feel like they’re gonna last for years. And the leather s beautiful,too. I had to pay shipping and import duties which ended up making these relatively expensive for me, but I still feel like I got great value for money. Next time I’m gonna order two or three pairs . Pretty sure Jim Green vellies will be my “go to” shoe for a long time.
